- ticking boxes : if it asks for two, do two. don't do just one or do three
- don't repeat information you've already been given : this can waste time, being straight to the point saves time on harder questions
- perfect spelling isn't needed, but spell key terms correctly (do not say the word amount! say mass or volume to be precise)
- read the question !!!
- look out for command words:
1. if it says explain, then say how and why it links to your knowledge 'because.. this means.. this leads to..'
2. if it says evaluate, then use the words better ' x is better than why because in the data abc...'
- underlying content always stays the same : even if there's a context you've never been taught, try and relate it to what you have learnt
- for 6 markers, use bullet points and logically structure your answer or include a small diagram that is labelled
- formula triangles do not gain marks, write the full equation properly
