I used to live paycheck to paycheck and it was the worst. You sit there, looking at the calendar at the end of every month, willing it to go faster, craving your next hit. No matter how bad your job is, you have no option. The bills are waiting, your credit cards are maxed out, and you have to do something to keep afloat. “Just one more month,” you tell yourself. “I’ve worked hard, and there is a bonus waiting for me at the end of the year. I might as well stay on longer…”
Stop! You have to break the cycle and regain power over your decisions. You have to detach from your paycheck dependency. You need financial planning. Step one in your personal finance makeover is to build an emergency fund. This is your first line of defense — the money that you don’t ever touch unless things go really wrong. You’ve probably heard the “emergency fund” idea before and maybe even thought it made sense. But you probably shrugged it off because you didn’t have any idea where to start with savings. Here’s a comprehensive guide to get you on track.

Seems like all my emergencies come before my emergency savings. When I save anything seems like my car or home can see it so it acts up 😢
