Dr House (David Nix in this film - Huge Laurie in real life) spills his exacerbation on Humanity frantically explaining his shock and dismay, that even if you show people their demise and self destruction, they we still be a runaway train on course towards it.

Unless of course they feel enough pain before hand to change....

I think this scene explains why this movie didn't do well. It told us that we are all responsible for how screwed up the world is. Not a lot of people want to hear that.

Which is, of course, exactly what he's saying.

I really hate to admit this, But the more you listen to Governor Nix's speech the more it makes you realize how right he is about everything he's saying. We are the reason that the Earth is changing, and the ones in charge are not doing anything about it. Not only is this guy a scary villain, but he's also right. He's like one of those world protection activists, Only way more dangerous.
