Is the ALL NEW 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport BETTER than the Honda Passport?

VW has taken a page from Honda's playbook. The NEW Atlas Cross Sport is a five passenger version of the 3-row Atlas. Under the hood is a 3.6L V6 producing 276 HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic. The Atlas Cross Sport is a little shorter than the standard Atlas, but sill has the muscular strong shape. On the inside you will find plenty of room especially in the cargo area. Is the 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport going to be a successful competitor to the Honda Passport?

This vehicle really speaks to me. I'm really glad that you got the opportunity to introduce one on your channel. I plan to visit a Volkswagen dealership to check out this and an Arteon when Cross Sport goes on sale.

I love the design. Putting this on my radar for next possible vehicle.

Another great review Joe. I like how you bring true everyday life situations into vehicle considerations. I'm a single father that doesn't need a huge suv but still have the demands for a mid size one. Thanks

I sat in that very car at the LA Auto Show yesterday. I fell in love! I cannot believe the leg room in the back seat, and the design is so much better than the regular Atlas. It will definitely be a contender in my new car search in 6 months. Love your reviews, keep it up!

Just picked up the Cross Sport SEL in Pure Gray. I’m happy. Thanks for the review.

If I didn’t have a 3rd kid on the way, this would be high on the list to replace my 2013 Explorer. I love everything about this vehicle. The looks, especially the color and wheels. The packaging is ON POINT. Plenty of back seat and cargo room, which is perfect for taking vacations for smaller families. The ventilated seats and premium stereo are a must have for me.

My wife and I just bought a new 2021 VW Atlas SEL Premium with 4motion. Top trim and Put 10k down and will pay 435 per month on a 15k mile a year lease. Another cool thing you can't see in the video is that it has ambient dash lighting as well. Its such a well crafted machine. I recommend checking them out in person if you are in the market!

I would buy it and throw a touareg badge on it just to mess with people.
I just told the wife that it will be our next vehicle. We recently bought a new pathfinder so in a few years when it's time to trade it in.
Your wife is doing an amazing job with the camera, thank you both.

Big debate, I’m digging this one. Like more the styling over the passport. Great video Joe, hope you get one for a full review and drive 👍👌

Really pretty car. I would have to disagree with you about the fact that this is following Honda with the Pilot and Passport. I think it's more in the line of the BWW X6 and Mercedes GLE Coupe

Joe you never have to apologize to us for the inconveniences of an auto show. You have to deal with enough yourself. We know you'll bring us the business whenever you get to it back home!

Love hearing this guy on the fly. "Put the button in your pocket and change modes at work" haha

For some reason, I’ve always felt as though the five door Passat could do everything that this Atlas can do and be a whole lot more fuel-efficient. That might be a misconception though.

Test drove this car this past weekend and it handled great very smooth ride and great feel behind the wheel, but there are two major drawbacks that will prevent me from even considering it. First the roof line is way too low when getting into the car, the seat must be put all the way down in order for a 5 foot 10 person to get in without hitting his head and to make things worse Volkswagen did not give the seats easy in easy out activation meaning they do not lower automatically when you turn the car off. So basically you need to adjust the sea every time you get in and out, without re-adjusting the seat, I could not get out of the car and that is also a major safety issue how is this ever passed safety is beyond me. The second issue is with the digital cockpit Display, why they would put eight point type in something you need to see clearly is beyond believe. It is incredibly difficult to read and illumination at maximum is barely readable. Two major flaws makes this a no go for me.

As someone who owns a two year old Atlas, I can assure anyone it has been perfectly dependable and of all the vehicles I’ve owned I get as many compliments as I have any other. My daughter graduates college soon and this is what I will probably get her. I hate to see the great warranty gone but it’s still a better One than most. My only criticism is I’m not a fan of fake exhaust tips.

Another great review Joe! I do like the Volkswagenish tail lights and rear end! 😆

i feel so confused that volkswagen was the only manufacturer to make a tailgate that freaking fast while all other manufacturers did not put effort to their tailgate speeds proof at 9:54

The transmission in the Passport stinks, otherwise it’s a nice vehicle.VW looks better.
