Is the ALL NEW 2020 Ford Escape as BAD as you think?

The 2020 Escape is here and there have been some big changes. Under the hood is a 1.5L turbocharged inline-3 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It's exterior has all new sheet metal, including updated wheels. On the inside there is more room and use of better materials. Did Ford make the right changes to the 2020 Escape?

I hate when the salesmen HAVE to go with you! I have found that I have researched a car/SUV so throughly by the time I drive it - that IF I have a question, they can never answer it. So why are they there?? They should know more about the vehicle than I do if they are selling it!! A bit off topic I know, but just my thoughts....

31 grand for a plain Jane and 3 cylinders. Not a fan.

I worked as a contractor reflashing the ECUs of these cars as they sat on the lot. MASSIVE issues with body and interior panel fitment. Other contractors were paid by Ford to walk these lots and bang body panels into "proper" fitment with rubber-coated mallets (I shit you not) - worst product launch I've ever witnessed. Not to mention weather stripping on the window peeling off while just sitting there. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. If there was ever a case to avoid buying "first model year of the new generation, " this is it. Raiti's instincts are completely correct.

We love it. Looks sharp, solid build. Clean interior. We wanted something car-like with just a touch bigger size. Love the features inside and out of this car. Heated seats and steering wheel too. 👍

Sometimes Joe I think your mind is on the same wavelength as mine. I was looking at the 2020 Escape last night thinking, "hmm, it doesn't look that good to me, " and I see your title! 😂

Tell me about the reliability and quality and how it has improved?! I really want a Ford Escape!

It doesn't have a lot of body roll because it doesn't have a whole lot of ground clearance compared to most other SUV's, which for me is one of the primary reasons behind shopping this segment of vehicles in the first place.

Joe I think it's just awesome you try to answer as many comments as you can, keep up the great work.

I had a 2013 Escape Titanium for 8 1/2 years went to look at this vehicle was hoping to step up and get into one, but the more I looked at it the more I saw Ford trying to address the loss of their cars in the fiesta, focus, etc... the Titanium model starts to sniff $40m and for less than that money and better setup for my wife and I we chose the 2021 Buick Envision Essence. Love it.

Seems like I'm the only person here that actually really likes the way this looks! It's clean, sleek and has great proportions overall. Love the color too.

Great video. I had been holding out, waiting for the new 2020 Escape with 2.0L engine to come out but I couldn't wait and ended up buying a Rav4 Trail. After watching this video I feel better about the choice I made.

I can’t wait for the new Bronco to come out and to see your review on that.

Your car reviews are amazing. I would really like to see some used car reviews as well.

Thank you for your consideration

Is this the same trim as the escape review you did on the 17th of July?

Not sure why but front end very very slightly reminds me of a porsche. Perhaps a macan of sorts.

Good vid!

"Bad"? Hardly. The new Escape is perfectly positioned to capture the portion of the market for whom a "utility" vehicle means carrying a lot of stuff in a compact package rather than off-roading. The forthcoming Bronco will undoubtedly lean toward the other end of that dimension. The three cylinder 1.5L engine with cylinder deactivation looks to be an interesting design. Competitive in terms of HP with rivals' base engines, the larger individual cylinders combined with a turbocharger suggests relatively strong torque out of a small engine. Add in cylinder deactivation for highway cruising and owners may actually achieve the EPA fuel economy numbers. Further, Ford is offering two other engine options; a NA 2.5L four banger combined with hybrid technology and a 2.0L turbo 4 with over 250 HP. A broad spectrum of choices with several sweet spots.

It looks nice and I like how the 3 cylinder sounds like a v6

The original ‘01-‘07 Escape was a cool little SUV, but the Escape has gotten progressively more wimpy looking with each new generation. This new one just looks like a hatchback, not an SUV.

Definitely better than current model because current one is too old. Don't know if ford fix the small overlap safety issue with the new platform. However for 31k? You can get a entry level palisade or telluride, or a middle class santa fe.

My wife have a current model escape that she likes, but for me (6'3") the seat's leg support is too short and driving position is uncomfortable. I do like that 2.0t, but I think it out performs the chasis.
