The current abnormal situations in the Singapore port are caused by wars, both shooting wars and trade wars, and are temporary.
Eventually they will stop and situation will be stabilized.
Ships by-passing Singapore now will ease the congestions and allow faster clearance for the rest.
No need to panic as there are no fundamental physical changes that will justify the construction of the Thailand Kra Canal by-pass.

Singapore is high in security. Many choose Singapore as a port because of this. That is vital.

You have missed a very impt point. Bec US is increasing tariff rate on more goods and China is rushing to get more goods out before the deadline. Everyone is rushing to beat the deadline. Thus, the overwhelming demand on shipping. But it will just be a temporary congestion.

Malaysia, Indonesia, etc have been developing large ports and trade volumes for these nations have also increased. These factors permanently reduce the need for a transit port like Singapore

When oil prices heading north and shipping companies can’t afford to waste money from one country to another country travelling thousands of miles to berth for two weeks waiting for loading and unloading. China must avoid incurring higher rates so must look for opportunities to cut cost related to shipping routes.

Well, if PSA were to adapt Yangshan terminal in Shanghai, larger than Singapore, they claim that with full automation, they need only 120 staff! with productivity of 47 TEU per hour per quay crane! Not only knowing this for a fact but they are doing it, would China support the Thais proposed rail-linked KRA project? Maybe, if Thailand under write the whole project!!

All ships should avoid Singapore which house a major US military base. Start investing in the land bridge/canal south of Thailand.

Other routes must be developed. Overland routes across Eurasia, other ports in Malaysia and Indonesia are options.

Using Thailand road to transport goods as an alternative route😂? Try going to Thailand for tour....n experience the congested roads there....u will cry 😭wasting most of your tour timing on road, than having fun time in actual tour spot....

Tuas Feng Shui may not be good for shipping. But Singapore is too greedy to turn Tanjung Pagar port into expensive condo and landed property (extension of Sentosa Cove?).

Honest oppinion. Singapore has reached a saturation point whereby they cannot grow significantly anymore. Not because of people, but because of no natural resources and land scarcity. Also their advanced infratructure had been caught up by Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia. Everyone has MRT, trains etc. Everyone has awesome ports. My oppinion is Singapore camt grow much more. If Singaporeans want to be rich and do more, they shouls start looking outside their country.

As an American, I don't see a problem in any of this. We need to reduce the trade deficit as much as possible

Singapore’s port issues are just beginning and the future there are going to become less relevant. The ASEAN countries have issues with them. And many other countries have issues with them also, including the big dog in the neighborhood.

It's interesting to see Malaysia Government view on the Kra Canal. I don't believe Thailand will go ahead with that canal because it probably can cause disintegration in southern Thailand.
