Some things to keep in mind - Sentry mode when at home it’s useless. Please do the test with no sentry mode. Sentry mode is using 1% battery every 3 hours.
You warmed up the car using 2% of the battery, without plugging it, so it’s clear something it’s wrong in your test.

The main use of the battery was sentry mode, not the cold

Thank you so much for this review, my wife is picking up her M3 next month and since we live in NE of USA 🇺🇸 we get long cold winters which will cause charging issues and it’s nice to see the power losses in extreme temperatures.
Thank you

Thanks for the videos. I’m glad I could find another model 3 owner in Calgary who has reviews of the car. Picked up my 2022 Model 3 Long Range 2 weeks ago and I’m loving it 😊.

Turn off sentry mode to save more battery because when it’s turn off the car will go to sleep but when it’s on the car stay on to record around it

Hadn't expected the Tesla to be still that useable at those temps.

Teslas do great in the cold. I will make a video about it soon.

Why did you have sentry mode on? This is proven to drain the battery at 1 mile per hour. That ruined the test of this video

Is the battery automatically kept warm at night? Normally, such low temperatures have a very destructive effect on batteries. I would be interested if you leave the Tesla outside for a week without charging it. Does he continue to lose energy every night and is empty after 9 days?

Great video. Yours is the first I've seen showing the Tesla not charging overnight in this temp. You show what to expect in cold temps, with battery percentage and range loss in cold temps.

-24 is not cold at all, even do not need plug block heater. 2 weeks ago is almost -40C. Can you drive your Tesla?

So you can't leave this thing at the airport when you travel to Mexico.

Would love to see the same test minus Sentry Mode.

quick question, doesn't tesla need to precondition the battery in the cold? how is it possible u were able to drive right away while not plugged, does this mean the 10% it lost overnight was spent on preheating the battery?. Thanks

I didn't notice you mention whether your test car BMS uses resistance heating or a heat pump, which would make a big difference.

21 degrees garage is not necessary- keep it around 10. Big waste of heat

With your experience with a Tesla, do you advice to get it even in this extreme temperature. I live in Saskatchewan and boy does it get super cold here😅

My diesel LC 150 can sit in the drive all week and the amount of diesel left in then tank will still be exactly the same regardless of temperature. Here evs are definitely not practical. Good for short trips and city dwellers, but up here in the mountains no use whatsoever.
