The 10 most dangerous railway lines in the world
Trains are the coolest thing to crawl on the earth. In addition to traveling, there is a chance
don’t attack your train, they are pretty safe to travel. Trains are not supposed to be
dangerous you know but, BUT some railway lines can be. Yes, there are railway lines that
are hell of a scary thing and we have made a video on them. So,
buckle up, this is going to be a bumpy ride.
Number 10:
ND and W Railway Route
When I asked you to buckle up because of the bumpy ride, I was particularly talking about
this peculiar railway track. This train route is so rough and uneven, I am wondering if the
passengers traveling in the train displace their organs within their body or not. The Michigan
Southern Railroad which is doing business under the name of Napoleon, Defiance &
Western Railroad is a freight railroad in the United States operating between Woodburn,
Indiana and Napoleon, Ohio and comprises 58 miles of track which runs over the swamp
ground for much of its length. The rail is in an extremely poor state of repair and the train
running on it wobbles violently.
Various records have been made of train derailments on this track and this video shows one
such derailment, thank god, it was not fatal.
Number 9:
Chennai Rameswaram Route, India
One of the most dangerous railway tracks, the chennai Rameswaram route is all about the
adrenaline rush, if it is your lucky day. The train connects Chennai in mainland south India
with Rameswaram Island and includes a dangerously low cantilever sea bridge running for
2,065 meters. The Pamban Railway Bridge was built in 1914 over the Indian Ocean and is
India’s first cantilever bridge. Traveling in the train, if you peep out of your window, the
scenes and closeness to so much water will give you chills. It would feel like riding on the
sea itself as water is all you can see on all sides.
Number 8:
Wuppertal suspension railway
World famous for its construction, beauty and dangers; the wuppertal suspension railway in
Germany is number 8 on our list. It is the world’s first and oldest electric elevated railway
suspension train with hanging cars and is unique to Germany.
It started its operation in 1901 and has been operational ever since with some temporary
halts in operation. Although more than 80,000 people travel on this train daily, this does not
decrease its scariness. The train has met several accidents during its long history of being
operational, the worst one was when the train fell into the stream. The accident resulted in
more than 5 people dead and 48 people injured some of which sustained long-lasting
injuries.
Number 7:
Dawlish Railway Track
Traveling along the coastline in a fast-running train might appear a delightful idea but it
carries its own dangers. Dawlish railway station of England is one such railway line, beautiful
to look at, dangerous to travel in.
The station and railway line are built on the sea wall and often suffer from storms due to their
proximity to the sea. The railway line passes through certain tunnels through the cliffs as it
follows the coastline. The station started its operation in may of 1846 and has met several
accidents since then. One such accident took place in 1921 when a passenger train collided
with a goods train in which two people were injured and cranes took several days to clear
away wagons that had fallen on the beach. The windows of the train often get smashed by
the water waves and occasional sea wall breaches also occur which are dangerous for the
active operations of the train.
