Emotionally it is a lose lose! I know of women who have had affairs while married and have become pregnant. The babies are beautiful, and are perfect. However, husbands tend to frown on adultery by their wives. Given, it's a double standard, and divorce them. It's very messy. The excitement of dopamine, adrenaline, and oxytocin in an affair is hardly worth the aftermath. It's just chemicals, not ' Love'! Figure it out with your husband, or 'cleanly' divorce, but don't have an affair. These women can't find a man who will trust them when the new man finds out she cheated on her husband. Can you blame them? Keep your high standards throughout your marriage, and your life.

But from the perspective of her mate...
This would work if women held all the cards, but he issue is that her mate will not want to raise offspring of another man, so if he DISCOVERS that she is cheating, he will leave, or worse, and this will leave the woman in a sub-optimal position. A much better option for a woman is to find a suitable mate to begin with rather than a second rate one who will raise the offspring of the some other male she decided to cheat with.
