Is infidelity really genetic? #shorts

People get upset or confused every time I mention that genes influence infidelity. A few things on that: First, of course they do. Your DNA coded for your brain and related operations. And your brain is the major system that decides whether or not you cheat—so it would be really weird if genes had no impact. Second, multiple twin studies show heritability of infidelity, and these studies persuasively argue it’s not just your environment. Third, scientists now think many hundreds of genes each influence multiple processes, you don’t need to have found specific genes to show something is heritable, but incidentally, in the case of infidelity, researchers have found individual genes that seem important; some variants of the DRD4 gene appear to increase your odds of cheating by over 50%. And finally, if you’re parents cheated, that’s doesn’t absolve you of responsibility for your actions; and if your partner’s parents cheated, it doesn’t necessarily mean your partner will. DNA is an influence, not an excuse.

Genes do play a significant factor in behaviour but I'm curious to know how scientists tested for non-physical things like infidelity lol. It's not like exclusivity is a physical thing you can see or perceive
