This video was one of the first I watched when learning Unreal, when I was 13. Today I am a Lead Engineer working on C++ and Unreal 5.2 currently. I'm sure there are many out there like myself, so thank you again for kickstarting my career.

These are the videos that really got me into game design. Absolutely wild. So much nostalgia.

I remember using UDK back in the day. What a nostalgia trip :)

Blender is FANTASTIC once you get used to all the hot-keys and shortcuts. It has a ton of great features, and when you get good at it, you look like you're typing quickly. :)

I love this idea, honestly, it's powerful engine, and not too advanced.

@GhostReconGuy

It means it wants to rebuild the lighting and the AI path. For this tutorial only rebuilding the light is necessary. As we don't have any AI it doesn't matter if its rebuilt or not. Anytime you move a light or a static object or do anything that involves the lighting you will have to rebuild.

Here's how I understand it. Both the UT3 editor (for mods) and the UDK both use the same game engine (Unreal 3 for lights, physics, etc). It is independant of any game. The UDK has more updated light features for dynamic lights instead of having to put a lot of static lights to create mood. The UDK is for stand alone games mostly for indie developers. If you wanted to make a mod you use the UT3 editor.

When you hit the CSG add button and all you get is a black box, make sure that on the bar above the 3D viewport, its set to Unlit. That will make the box the purplish and grey checkerboard that you see in the video.

Don't Look Now is a good one. It's what made me check out the engine in the first place.
