Nikhil Naz reports from Paris "The hearing of Vinesh Phogat's appeal might happen online. There were two appeals that Vinesh filed, one requesting her to be allowed to compete in the final. She told the CAS that she reached the final fair and square.

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat announced her retirement on Thursday, a day after she was disqualified from the wrestling final at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Vinesh was disqualified from the Gold medal match of the 50 kg Women's Wrestling for being overweight by 100 grams.

Vinesh Phogat is not new for Olympics. A regular participant, won several international medals for India. Olympics Committee is requested to consider the valuable wrestler to inspire her hard work. Such outstanding performers will add heart and soul to the entire horizon. Thank you.

Irrespective of the outcome of the appeal, nothing prevents us from treating her as a Silver medalist. Let her enjoy the awards, benefits, accolades, priveleges, financial supports etc of a Silver medalist.
And also her team be accordingly suitably rewarded.

Rules are rules. We as a nation are breakers of rules on the road and elsewhere.

But this is trauma for Vinesh and her wonderful team. Remember-had the weigh in had gone ok, she would have got gold. She and her team needs now all the financial and other supports expected to be given to a silver medalist.

And of course, the entire nation loves her. More so now. She even cut her hair! We salute her every day.
