What is that thick black smoke? Particulate matter? Emissions? Both?
Do diesel engines emit more emissions than a gasoline engine?

The conversation of how higher cylinder pressure affects NOx emissions and how to maintain high power output through lower cylinder pressure is a very interest subject i think. This in coordination with how certain important engine parameters (such as egts) are effected by advancements in timing and different fuel injection strategy’s (ie # of injection events, duration and timing of said events) are very important to understanding how modern diesel engines are able to push so much more power clean, quiet, and cooler than even heui trucks. It is also something that there isn’t much Info on I have found. I would love to see another video on that topic.

Seems like, if black smoke is unburned fuel, that the focus should be on burning that fuel in the cylinder to get more power, as opposed to just adding more fuel and watching it go out the tailpipe. So, how can this kind of efficiency be added to a 7.3?

I rock a OBS7.3 and am looking forward to throwing a big air mover on that slug. Smokes…. “Cool” but power and turbo sounds are cooler 😁
