I always thought part of their issue in the books was that Harry was so used to people comparing him to his parents and talking about things his parents did that he didn’t realize it was toxic to be in a relationship with someone who was constantly comparing him to a deceased predecessor (previous relationship)

There was a bit in Half-Blood Prince where Hermione went on a tangent about how Death Eaters weren't all purebloods and would probably let Ron and Harry join. Ron immediately shot her down, saying that the Weasleys were "blood-traitors" and "as bad as Muggleborns" to Death Eaters, but it was Harry's reply that killed me with laughter:
“And they’d love to have me, ” said Harry sarcastically. “We’d be best pals if they didn’t keep trying to do me in.” 🤣🤣🤣
