I am just beginning to take these classes where we are using this stuff, which make my head actually feel like it has a black hole in it, but you have pulled me out, thank you!

7. From a common starting point on a circular path around a park,
five persons started moving in the clockwise direction with speeds
X1, X2, . . ., X5 meters per second, respectively. Suppose that the total
length of the circular path is 200 meters. Assume that X1, X2, . . ., X5
are independent and identically distributed as Uniform (0, 2) variables,
and each person takes several laps around the park. If T denotes the
time for the first instance when two persons meet after starting, find
the expected value of T.

8 does not fall in between -4 to 6. So should not the answer be 1. I understand the concept behind to calculate the area but here a value should have been taken between -4 to 6 to explain here.

Hi, thank you for the very elaborate and clear introduction. However, I have a question; how can I find the values of a and b whilst only given the k?
