Goalkeeping in soccer is super tough, and it’s a lot harder than being a central midfielder. Sure, every position has its challenges, but goalies deal with some really unique stuff that makes their job more complicated. First off, goalkeepers are often all alone back there. While everyone else is running around playing the game, the goalie has to hang out by the goal, waiting and watching. This can be really boring sometimes, but it also means they have to stay focused for long periods. They have to pay attention to everything that’s going on, even when the ball is far away. It’s way harder for them to just jump in and help out like midfielders do because the midfielders get to pass the ball and be part of the action more often. Next, goalies have to make quick decisions, sometimes in just a second. Imagine an attacker is coming straight at them ready to shoot. The goalie has to act fast: should they rush out, stay put, or dive one way or the other? They have to read the attacker’s movements and figure out what to do, all while keeping calm and collected. Central midfielders can play at their own pace, working with teammates to control the game, so they don’t have that same intense pressure. Also, the skills that goalkeepers need are super specialized. Making saves involves a lot of different techniques, like diving, catching, and reacting quickly. They’ve got to train hard to have great reflexes, timing, and even agility to stop those tricky shots. If they mess up, it’s usually a big deal because letting in a goal can change the whole game. Midfielders have their own skills too, but if they make a mistake, it’s not always as noticeable because the game keeps going. The mental side of being a goalie is tough too. There’s a ton of pressure on them because they know that a single mistake can lead to a goal for the other team. It can be really stressful, and they need to develop a strong mindset to handle the ups and downs that come with the job. Midfielders, while they do feel pressure, can share the spotlight more easily because they’re part of a team effort. In the end, even though both goalkeepers and midfielders are super important to their teams, being a goalie comes with its own set of challenges. From feeling isolated and needing to make quick choices to having special skills and the pressure of every situation, goalkeeping is really hard. That’s why it’s clear that goalies have a tough job that requires a lot of mental and physical strength.

Striker and goalkeeper are the hardest mental positions, with strikers if you miss your teammates get mad at you, and with goalkeepers if you miss a save your teammates get mad.

Goalkeeper is more challenging in my opinion but of course CMs have to control the game

In terms of pure physicality (includes strength, stamina and overall workload), i don't think centre mids have to do the most, unless youre a pure box to box, like fede valverde. On the ball centre mids have the most demanding job, and it requires the highest level of alertness, but off it, just physically, id say being a fullback, or even a centre back, depends on the style of the team, is the most demanding. The best example is that the greatest cms, like xavi, iniesta were not physical monsters

Those who are saying that goallies is the hardest position.
The CM can controll and stop counter attacks and can turn counter attack to their counter attavk

This video in itself and the comments here make me really believe how misunderstood a position of a goalkeeper really is. There is no position in the field of play as exhausting mentally than a goalie.

As a center midfielder I know GK is the hardest position for sure because it is hard mentally to know you can’t let your team down and physically since you are the wall in between the goal and ball. Midfield is also hard physically considering the amount of running we do and we basically control the game. But since soccer is a team sport every position is hard in its own way and we need to take that into consideration!
Tell me if im not speaking facts😂

Gk is mentally and emotionally draining plus if a goal goes in its all on you-coming from a Lw😅

I'm 14 Yr old, My favourite position was attacking midfielder but i was not good player in that position... I have the 2nd best vision and playmaking in my team, but one's i tried RB and it was better ... So, in team we didn't have any RB so, coach changed me to RIght back... And i plays better in that position than CAM

And i got 2 goals and 4 assist from 3 games(without free kick and penalty)

Ya i think cm is the toughest throughout a game and they have to be very technically good and mentally brave to alwsys demand the ball but the single hardest thing to do is put the ball in the net.

Nah bro it’s the 2nd hardest one I tried to be a goalkeeper and it was so hard realizing that most kid goalkeepers have the fear of diving and powerful shots and even put your life on the line to make a save those high dives are scary and could brake a goalkeepers back and they might hit they’re head on the post with can lead to a head injury

I played it before and it was hard. I faced constant pressure like defending my zone. Running back and forth attack to defense. Setting the play. When I played as a left wing . I was forced to dribble but I lost confidence in dribbling. Too scared to do it now

Finally some one who understands our pain the st be missing so much tap inside and good passes from us in fact if the st misses an easy goal the coach doesn't get mad and tells him next time he will score but if we do an amazing pass to the rw and it is a through but the rw doesn't move and the LB takes it it is our problem and we should make more directed passes
Edit after 1 year: I shifted to a defender after discovering my skills there and my shooting is insane so mostly when the RW or LW is tryna make a criss and the midfielders are in the box and me and the other defender are the only avaliable players the LW or the RW passes it to me and we can play a pass but like 5 days ago I shot and scored a screamer from the middle of the pitch and am good at deafening for some reason even tho I am not physically well I can focus really well so I can keep track of the ball and I buy time for the rest of my team to get back if it is a counter attack or I just take the ball cuz am lowkey been good with the ball I just take it and pass the ST or the oppenet and od either a long or a short pass, some times if I see a open player I pass it to him, 2 days ago I did this and I got an asisst, I want to continue my football career but I been getting kinda fat so my stomach is kinda big which ruins my stamina so that is my highest problem, if yall have tips it would be really helpful
