Stephanie at Hightower Stitching starts on a new hand stitching quilt project working with beautiful and fun larger hexagon flowers in My Grandmother's Garden. In Part 1 of at least 3, Stephanie shares ideas for choosing fabrics for the flowers, creating two templates, and cutting the various patches. In Part 2 she will demonstrate things that helped her make the 28 flowers for her new quilt.

I hand sewed a Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt when I was pregnant with our first child in 1976. Got the top finished, sandwiched, and started hand quilting. I found I didn’t like hand quilting and wrapped it in a sheet and stored it away - for 46 years. I pulled it out when I took up quilting again at age 70. I started learning free motion quilting but didn’t want to mess up my very first quilt so I sent it out to a longarm quilter. I love what she did with it. I found a fun fabric to make my own bias binding and finally finished it this January, 2024.
