Pete would have love playing in todays era, no one's calling carry and travel now. He'd be a god.

People talking about his dribble but this man’s jumper was more crispy then my grandma’s best homemade chicken nuggets. Imagine him if he could have added the step back

Watching Pistol Pete handle the ball is like poetry in motion. He's like the white version of one of the Harlem Globetrotters. Not only was his ball handling beyond words. But, his ability to pass or score was unbelievable. He could've played in this modern era scoring on even Lebron James. And, that's saying something.

Scored 68 against the knicks without the 3 pointer in play yet.

To add the experience of watching this video
Remember that there's nobody that have that type of handle before him

We can only imagine what Pete could have done if he had played with today's liberal ball handling "rules" but we do know that the Pistol was at least the greatest ball handler of his era if not the greatest ball handler ever.

Too bad he had to retire just when he and Bird
came together. If they had played together for
a few years, what a show that would've been.
Plus the "Pistol" would have a couple of rings.

I love the straight up dagger pull up 15 footers off the dribble... swish

More Pete content, it's so hard to find the content of arguably the most skilled player of all time. I don't understand why the NBA won't open its vault and give us a proper Pistol Pete mix. To celebrate the 75th Anniversary Team we should get proper 20+ minute mixes of all the players on that list. But as far as Pete it's the same content. I don't understand why nobody has more robust footage of him considering at the time he set a record for being the highest-paid player, was a perennial all-star, and arguably the most exciting player of his era sans Dr.J, IMO. Pete was basically a Globetrotter but used his skills to the effect of averaging 44 ppg in college. Then they thought it was a fluke until he came into the NBA lighting it up to the tune of averaging 24 points, 5.4 dimes, and 4.2 boards per game for his career. Those are mirrors of Kobe's career numbers(25.0, 4.7, 5.2). That's how skilled he was in the '70s. He was basically the White Mamba only he never got a chance to play with an all-time great Center like Shaq. Imagine Pete playing with Kareem in the '70s in LA?

Of the very best players, only 5% will work these drills. Of this 5%, only 5% will perfect them. It takes an extraordinary individual who has a burning desire to become their imagination.

It’s an overlooked skill in today’s basketball. So many people put emphasis on scoring. Ball handling skills with the NBA defense (lack of) in today’s game, Pistol would be a nightmare for the Lebron’s and Curry’s. One player can’t carry an entire team. Pistol would pass the ball off at any second to the other 4 guys out on the floor with him.

True power dribble and having the ball on a string. Effective dribbling not flashy dribbling
