SUMMARY
-Add some peppermint oil to your cleaning solution and mop your floor with it to wipe away ant trails.
-Lemon basil and cinnamon basil can effectively repel the Anopheles gambiae complex, a group of mosquito species known to carry malaria.
-Lavender scent can protect your home, pets, and other plants from being infested by bugs.
-According to research, nepetalactone, the essential oil in catnip that your kitty loves so much, acts as an irritant against these common household pests.
-Rosemary is commonly used in cooking and has medicinal properties. It also attracts butterflies but deters flies and mosquitoes.
-Apply a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil to some cotton balls and put them in areas where you often find spiders.
-Mix baking soda with sugar, and place a bowl of water near it. This lethal trio creates a chemical reaction inside the roaches’ stomach, which, let’s just say, won’t end well for the little buggers.
-Marigold contains pyrethrum, a compound that’s commonly found in commercial bug sprays.
-Put original scented dryer sheets in these places to keep mice out.
-Protect yourself and your family by setting traps with peanut butter for mice and rats.
-Mouse-proof your house by placing sheets of aluminum foil in their hideouts.
-Try ultrasonic repellents if you’re willing to spend the money. These things emit high-frequency sounds that are only sensitive to a mouse’s ears.
-Borax is used as a cleansing agent and in glass-making. It can also kill ants, roaches, termites, spiders, and even mold.
-Use steel wool or copper mesh to mouse-proof your house and seal the deal with caulking.
-If you need to keep wild animals out of your garden, cayenne pepper is a perfectly safe way to keep them at bay. Sprinkle it on the topsoil to keep rabbits and squirrels from munching on your fresh veggies.
-Burning neem leaves gives about 76% mosquito protection for up to two hours. You can also heat the leaves up for 25% protection.
-Another plant that’s proven to fend off mosquitoes is lemon thyme. Smash it and apply it to your skin after running a test on a small area.

We live in Iowa, where the number 1 crop is corn! We put several traps in the garage to keep them out of the house. Instead of peanut butter, my husband hot glues a peanut to each trap works REALLY good. Saves on peanut butter!

When we moved into our house 40 years ago it was over run with mice..we caught 23 mice in the first couple days.. after dark my husband walked around the perimeter of the outside of the house while I was in the basement with a flashlight..I shined it along the place between the house and the concrete wall of the basement..my husband could see the light where there were openings between the foundation and house and stuffed steel wool in the holes..we've never had another mouse..they won't chew through steel wool..we also sprayed foam sealer along the barrier if the entire basement to keep insects out

Lavender works for keeping mosquitoes at bay . My grandbaby girl and I use a lot of lavender baby lotion when we are going outside and we don't get bit by the little buggers anymore. A friend told me about it after she went to purchase some lavender oil and could not find anywhere that was not sold out . Someone at the pharmacy in our county told her to try the lotion and she did. It worked great for her so she told me and I swear by it and so does the baby girl .

I have sun spiders living in my mint plants. I guess they didn't get the memo on hating mint.

It seems that no one had mentioned this and I’m really surprised. Not many of these plants mentioned will do anything as just a plant. The volatile oils and terpenes need to be removed from the plant, often distilled and then put in the areas of possible entry to your home etc.

I put dryer sheets in those places. The mice thanked me for the nesting material. Also debunked.

I spray lavender and peppermint oil and that's what got rid of mice and bedbugs! It works but you have to keep it going! For fruit flys apple cider vinegar in a shallow bowl or lid with Dawn original just a couple drops!

It’s a mint plant. I have them growing around my house and inside, it doesn’t get rid of spiders, mice or ants.

I want to live with that lavender garden. That is so beautiful! I would be calm, chill and nothing would bother me. Sip some tea from the garden....

I use in a spray bottle: warm water, dish soap and peppermint oil. It works!! Mainly for spiders our yard is surrounded by trees and bushes so they get in somehow.

The very best mosquito repellent I've found is garlic oil. I've taken two capsules twice a day for years, haven't been bitten once since I started doing so, and have actually watched the little vampire ladies touch down on my legs, then lift off again without attempting to bite. And I live in Texas, where the mosquitoes are big and feisty!

Good information, have tried one more, add neem oil to some camphor and pour into earthen small lamp pots and insert a wick light them up. This wards of mosquitoes!

Coffee grinds can be also used to keep ants out of your home. Sprinkle this around perimeter and no unwanted ants.
