This technique will allow you to take any kind of text and add custom shadows within the text to build depth and create a 3D effect to any text that you place in your document.

In this Adobe Photoshop tutorial, we will create a small piece of text and use the Pen Tool to create exact selections and create small custom shadows to transform our gradient text into a 3D ribbon that wraps in and over itself. It’s a cool effect that you’ve just got to see and try for yourself. I hope you enjoy the video!

im wondering where this comes from when im working with the path tool almost every third click im using a wrong shortcut ending up screwing my own path then again i barly used any similar tools outside of photoshop over the years somehow it still works against some intuitive path manipulation and i cant put my finger on it maybe i worked too much in macromedia flash touching lines or maybe even deluxe paint paths or animation paths of lightwave 3d or imagin 3d on amiga. somewhere along the line of working with lines i got used to something that keeps me on warpath with the path tool of photoshop. im always impressed with how flawless you are working with paths. for me doing such a tutorial would propably end up in about 6 months worth of footage and a couple of new keyboards :) so i guess the world is better off sticking with tutvid tutorials.

if i wouldnt knew better i even would photoshop accuse of deliberately changing the function of shortcuts using the pathtool while im working just to set me up

To reduce time just select the shadow of the S in "Most" and copy&paste it over the S in "Girls". Continue as per the tutorial. At the end, select the shadowy end cap on the S in "Girls" and copy&paste it to the same spot on the T in "Most". Continue as per the tutorial.

What I did to help with the curvature of the letters was, I duplicated the text layer. Then deleted all the letters except for the one I was outlining. I then took the wand tool, selected the letter, went back to my "shadows" layer and brushed around that. Would you suggest not doing it this way for any reason?
