I gotta say this guy is a brilliant instructor, very calm, very professional, and he's just so cool.

You done well Hayley. The problem with learning in an old vehicle with an out dated gear set up etc is you spend more time learning the characteristics of an old tired vehicle rather than concentrating on learning to drive to a test standard. Best of luck

one tip I found with that box was when starting off turn your palm towards the passenger side for 1st & 2nd, palm on top for 3rd & 4th, palm towards you to hit it over the gate, palm on top again for 5th & 6th, palm towards you for 7th & 8th I found it makes the change lighter its in the wrist action, of course reverse for changing down

His very patient, like his teaching style. Considering the amount u need to think about with the gearbox ect that's a good drive. It'd flumux me. Good job.

Well done Hayley, I think Billy was the star in this vlog!!!!☺️☺️.
Very interesting, and enjoyable, definitely recruiting more HGV drivers.
Never heard of a "Knock Over" gearbox, just another way of operating more gears.
Many thanks to Billy and your good self.
Best regards John Quinn.

Hi Hayley, greetings from Bulgaria. This video reminded me my lessons for CE 5 months ago in a 30 years old Mercedes. It was a nightmare but I hope to start my first job as a CE driver this month and it will be an internatioanal driving. See you soon in Great Britain. ❤

Excellent vlog, Hayley. That's the first time I've seen a proper training session in progress. Mr Thomas seems a very good trainer. Not overbearing or over critical. Just calm and reassuring. That's what you need. Good of him to let you film, and it can only benefit his business. I think you're at a slight disadvantage driving such an old vehicle, especially with the manual gearbox, but you manage it well. You should be well prepared for your test.

Haley ! well done, gosh.... that gearbox creates a higher work load. You did really well. The camera position is perfect, also you take it in your stride. You will have earned that pass as you have worked hard for it. I am so pleased you have a more modern tractor unit waiting for you. Also don't let Billy get away with that chocky bar. Just love your videos. Stay safe! You have a lovely calm demeanor. Excited about day three.

This is a great video Hayley which has definitely helped me. I'm doing my bus driver training just now and how I wish my "instructor" was like yours i.e. calm and friendly with good advice on what you should be doing at all times. In contrast to mine on my first 2 hour drive out his method of instructing was shouting in my ear a constant (and I mean constant) stream of all the things I was doing wrong. At the end of the session I wanted to pack it all in and never come back I felt so useless. This continued until my test which I failed. He didn't show any interest at all in that I'd failed.

Haley well done you did amazing love especially at 1st time👍 And what a lovely instructor you have got credit to him👌 And credit for you showing YouTube Your lessons that must make some people nervous but word of advice I am sure your instructor will agree with me when you get used to things Try talking to him what you see in front of you For example The bin waggon when you was going to set off if you would turn round to him and said you are not comfortable to go wait at the moment Will our ways help you I am sure a will agree anyway you did Brilliant job 👍😉😊

Nice vid, I just did my C+E and passed everything this week. All those instruction I can hear in the video are like an echo to me from my driving instructor LOL

Also a pretty nice truck I had a MAN as well.

This video is going to be a great help to others who are preparing themselves for training. It's also been of benifit to me and I passed my test back in the 1970s. I'm sure you will do well Hayley, you have all the basics covered, another couple of days and you will be ready to ace it. I really like the look of that gearbox, it looks simple and easy to use which is always a boon when a wagon is fully loaded.

Looks complicated . Way back in the day when i passed my class 2 in the army, ye that was fun . I passed in a amphibious vehicle called a stalwart( no doors ). 7 forward gears and 7 reverse . Double clutch ( if dropping down a gear, clutch(out of gear), rev engine then clutch and in gear), you were expected to go through all the gears without grinding the box lol. Happy days and good mates.
