Well technically vecna only got the power to open Gates through eleven in stranger things season 3, the bite, took Elevens powers away, which is a nice story detail because it actually makes season 3 important to the story since in my opinion it didn't really add any lore, season 2 and 4 are the biggest lore related seasons imo

Dustin isn’t my favorite character but one thing I love about his character is that he is always smart and he is always coming up with ways to keep the party safe he is the smartest out of the party.

There theory is correct (Obviously) but the only difference being that Henry has complete control over the Mind Flayer so he is simply using it as his weapon for his carnage and destruction of the world.
(But that’s probably what he meant when he referred to Henry as a Five Star General)
