The 2024 Yamaha YZ250F is all-new and it has finally arrived. For our first day on the bike, we shook it down at Perris Raceway to break it in and learn all about it with Yamaha. The '24 model comes with an updated engine with a completely new cam chain system and new larger air intake boot. Plus it has all the updates that the YZ450F gained last year like the new frame, slimmer bodywork and more.

I just rode this bike at a demo day, and I loved it! Never thought I'd be a Yamaha fan but I ended up buying one as soon as I got home.

I have a 2021 that only has 33 hours on it and that bike is so dialed in. I’m eager to ride the new one, but honestly I feel like my current ride is a very tough act to follow. It’s been the best dirt bike I have ever owned and I’m so glad I went back to a 250F as a vet rider. They’re loads of fun.

Recently sold my 250 2 stroke for a 23 250f haven’t rode a 250f since 09. after 70 hours on it I can’t believe how good it works like the man said it’s a Cadillac. 24 looks so good. Can’t wait for one of my buddy’s to buy one lol

Testing the 2023 vs the 2024 bikes back to back is great and why I love the MXA reviews. Great details and insights.
Can't believe this bike is LOUDER than the 2023, which was already very loud. My 2023 KTM 250 SX-F is so quiet comparatively.

I bought the 21 brand new. As a 30 year old who hadn't ridden in 7 years, it was a fantastic bike to re-up my MX skills.

My review on the bike. It handles so predictably as everyone says. Never did I feel out of control, even through the awkward phase of changing my riding technique. Fast bike mid to top, and decent on the bottom, however it does not accelerate out of sharp turns like a 250 2 stroke, at least for a big guy 240+. Specifically im talking about seat bouncing a double right out of a corner. I just couldn't make it on the 250f when i could on the 250 2t. Everywhere else the 250f is just as fast and easier to ride, less critical to be in the proper gear on a fast jump.

Ugh, exactly what I was worried about when the 450 dropped last year. Been waiting for this bike since then cuz I’m a Yamaha guy at heart. The neutral chassis is what I loved the most about past generations. Wish they just changed the cramped cockpit and they would have been dialed. Holding out hope this gets figured out.

Wow, great and honest review after first day of riding. Thank you MXA!
Also, I will tell that Josh has awesome riding style, I noticed this in few previous videos.

Honest review. Much better than the old days of motocross magazine bias.

I ride single track/hard enduro for the most part nowadays. So I’m on a 300 2t of course, but I’d love to have the 24 250f. Makes me want to go back to my track days.

As a vet rider that started riding as a vet and only rides couple times a year, so in the forever beginner class and struggle in the tight turns I was really excited for this bike, not so sure now.

My KTM 200SX with '06 chassis and '17 YZ250F front end keeps my '22 YZ250F collecting dust. The KTM turns down better, doesn't push and is nearly as stable with a PDS MX-Tech shock! I don't know how this is possible, but my buddies ride both of the bikes and the think the same thing. And it yards new 250F's with the new STIC Super X carb on a stock engine. YAAAT, No Choice!

Yamaha YZ450F & KTM 450SXF.. break em in easy..change the oil & go RACING (my methods)! *Both these bikes are straight up ready to roll in every way* .

I ride a 19 and think the frame is better just sitting on a 24, I think the last generation will hang around for awhile.

For the 24 125 shoot out use the 50th anniversary yz125 colour 🙏

would the yz250f be good for a complete beginner rider?

Will you be testing the new 2024 250 2 stroke YZ?

NFW is a slightly heavier cam chain causing the change in low rpm response that they report. There's a new airbox and ECU with a new calibration that could easily be the cause. That also assumes there are no other internal changes not being mentioned. Did the exhaust need to change to fit around the new frame? Did the narrower body work mean smaller radiators?

Personally I wouldn't want the seat on my 2022 bike raised by 15mm so I don't think I'll be updating. I would like to know whether the wider cam chain will fit my bike, though.

Yamaha had us all fooled until now... they promised there would still be enough weight on the front wheel when they turned the engine around in 2014. we were worried. but they were right. the new blue bikes still turned ok in the 250 class.

but now it's happened... they messed up the chassis geometry and the rolled-back 250 engine is too light for it. the bike just doesn't turn well (see 14:35 min). what's more, the narrow design is now limiting air flow and reducing power.

they best make a 250 only chassis asap to get the weight forward. or put the engine back around again so it can get some air.
