Power connector disconnection tip, for those that have problems removing it. I used both my index finger nails to rock down each sides of the connector in a slow wiggle fashion, until it slid off finally. Took about 30 seconds. And way easier than what I see people on youtube using tools and stuff.

2tb SSD was a missed opportunity. Would buy that in a heart beat in this market!

I've been using Sabrent SSDs for years so it's only fitting that not only do I use a Sabrent SSD in my Steam Deck, but use your instructions for swapping it out as well. Thanks for the clear instructions! You've mentioned a few things that others have left out and clarified things I had questions about.

The installation worked like a charm; however, even though I'm very tech-savvy, I wouldn't say this was easy. I had a really hard time splitting open the case even when using a pick and iFixit's pry bar. I ended up leaving minor dents in the plastic. Then once inside the case, Steam didn't install the fabric pull tab correctly on the battery, and I spent about 30 minutes carefully pulling the battery plug out. Once that was done, it was an easy switch out. Thanks for the video.

Bought the 64GB steamdeck around January with the intent to upgrade it over time. Was looking into SSD upgrades recently because I can't even fit Ark survival evolved on it, was very happy to see that it is 31% off currently. $110 for an 8 factor upgrade to my storage capacity? Totally worth it!

Installed mine (1tb) on monday, runs great and i now have enough space for games. And the price (around 160€) is okay.

This is the only guide I've seen mention putting the Battery into Storage Mode. It seems like a good idea, but it's not mentioned again on your next video for ReImaging the SteamOS. Presumably, you'd have to plug the power cable back in to wake the battery back up from its storage mode first, otherwise, the Steam Deck won't boot at all.
I'm a bit spooked by guides that mention one step which is never tied up later on, and seeing as it isn't in other guides I'm tempted to skip it for fear of overcomplicating/breaking things.
Can anyone else clarify this?

This is pedantic, but I think it's worth pointing out that the 64GB Deck doesn't have an SSD, but an eMMC card. This is why the 64GB card is extremely slow compared to even the stock 256/512GB SSD, because, well, it's not an SSD.

Other than that, super helpful guide and I'll definitely save this video for when I get a new 2230 SSD! I think I'll be holding out for a 2TB SSD though, any chance of a 2TB model of this particular SSD?

Wow, the presenter for a company is much better than so many other people who have channels of their own names

If you need to disassemble your Steam Deck, always make sure the Memory card isn't inserted. From what I've seen, if you disassemble it with the memory card, the force of taking it apart usually ends up snapping the memory card in half. I haven't disassembled my Steam Deck (yet) as I don't have a 2TB NVME, but I did see a post about it.

Nice vid. But I would have appreciated a more precise suggestion about the screwdriver sizes you need.

Definitely worth the price tag to upgrade from the 64gb! Increased my performance in games a ton! Was using an SD previously to store games and it's a drastic improvement when gaming.

Can you not just copy the contents of the smaller SSD on to the bigger one and save all the re imaging?
