That is what I love about the Japanese. They still preserve many of their traditional skills as a cultural heritage!

I can just tell from looking that this takes 40 years to just master the bamboo shaving technique and another 80 years to master the shaping.

I truly hope this incredible artist takes on an apprentice so his beautiful work can be passed on

I’ve literally wondered how they were made for years but have never actually found any info like this, thanks!

Man looks tired, but is very proud of his work.

People prefer what is fast, easy and cheap. These top tier craftsmen are getting rarer and rarer in our society.

I like how his mustache also looks like a bow.

I would kill for a chance to display the hard work of a craftsman like this, a proof of the dedication to a craft someone loves

When someone talking with closed eyes and still explaining, its mean he's big shoot and know what he is doing very well.

I'd like to meet the person at BI that said “let's make great content, do a wonderful job filming it, then condense it down to sub 60 second sound bites and make it a vertical video for tiktok!…. Then put that on youtube!!” It really says a lot about his or her overarching aptitude and critical thinking skills.

Something that always strikes me about these crafts that take years and decades to master; yes it is impressive and worthy of praise, but at the end of the day, is it worth dedicating your time on this Earth to such a fleeting artform? These bows likely will last for many years, but is that truly worth a lifetime of dedication?

You can bet when this method was discovered and perfected hundreds of years ago it was a very well kept secret.

Can I watch the full video?? This is cool I have made bows in the past and I want to try this method so if it does work I can make a stag as an excuse for having bamboo to make the bow…. I HAVE TO GO NOW !!
