Percale is actually better for hot sleepers NOT sateen!!

bought a 400tc percale sheet set around 4 years ago and they're holding up strong, no pilling, etc.
For cotton sheets, long or extra-long staple cotton with a thread count in the 300-500 range is usually optimal.

Give Alan a raise and a promotion (if he has chosen to stay with the company after all this time). I learned alot from him watching this video. Very professional and very helpful.

My favorite video by far on this channel. There are so many of us who aren't educated when it comes to bed sheets. We do spend most of ours times sleeping, so a good quality of sheets is a must.

It should be noted that percale is for hot sleepers NOT sateen.

4:43 "FIVE HUNDRED - and that's basically as low as I would go" WRONG: I think some of Frette sheets are an example of 300-count that are expertly weaved in Italy. It really should be noted that you look at the COUNTRY in order to figure whether you should accept the lower thread count. Look at Brooklinen's 270 thread count as another example.

Higher thread count sheets are very overrated; they are thick, slippery, heavy and hot. Percale sheets are very soft around 300tc are great for hot climates and hot sleepers.

Percale sheets are plain in weave and characterized by a matte finish and crisp hand. ... Percale fabric is lighter in weight and more breathable making it perfect for summertime or warmer climates. Sateensheets are woven to create a silky smooth surface with a luminous sheen and is known for its luster and drape.

Also, anything above 400 thread count could be a gimmick because looms can only weave a max of 400 thread. So anything above that could be gimmicky.

Once thread count goes over 600ish it tends to mixed with polyester. Don’t pay the premium for 1000 thread count it’s honestly a scam. Also percale weave is better for hot sleepers, the weave makes it more breathable. Pima cotton and Egyptian cotton as he said are essentially the same thing just that pima is grown in north america and Egyptian cotton in Egypt. Each strand of cotton is longer and stronger making it more breathable, durable and over all more comfortable.

Be forwarned Flannel sheets arrive looking great. One wash of these flannel sheets left my drier packed with fuzzy balls that were mde by the wash and dryer.

Thread count isn’t NEAR as important as type of FABRIC🙄😬

we just got bamboo sheets that are sateen, so soft but they remind of just "satin sheets" we used to buy for sexy nights!! lol they are a bit shiney too

I admit there aren’t too many things Im picky about but my bedding is one thing I’m totally snobbish about. I just got a set of 100% linen bed sheets and I’m in love. And my other favorite has been 100% bamboo.

He's wrong about percale v sateen for cooler fabric. Need to choose your experts better. Pima is not always what you expect. You want supima that passes Oeka-tex regulations. Thread count does matter, but anything over 600 is a shorter thread spliced together. It's a cheap process to be able to say there are more threads, but pilling is more common. So never go over 600. With percale you can get a high quality smooth, crisp, cool sheet with 300 tc. With sateen you'll want 400 - 600 tc and you want to make sure it's Oeka-tex long staple cotton.

"Ha ha got ya!" said Alan Mooney after filming stopped, "It's opposite day! What I said is TOTALLY the opposite. Percale would be cooling to the skin & for hot sleepers, not Sateen! Also thread-count isn't that important, it's the weave that matters. And oh ya, I'm NOT an expert sheet guy! 😜
