More information is being shared and learned about what happened inside the cockpit of a passenger plane out of Everett's Paine Field Sunday evening and about the pilot's prior FAA medical examinations.

As KING 5 reported, in an Alaska Airlines flight operated by Horizon Air, an off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot reportedly tried to shut off the engines mid-flight.

After that emergency incident, Seattle-based carrier Alaska Airlines issued a new statement Monday night reading, "Throughout his career, Emerson completed his mandated FAA medical certifications... at no point were his certifications denied, suspended or revoked."

This clip had nothing to do with Alaska commenting on the pilots mental state, the title is misleading.

want i want to know is how did the 2 other pilots, who were both strapped in and in a fairly vulnerable position, stop him before he was able to kill the engines. only takes a few seconds to do

To have the greatest job in the world as a pilot and try to involve others into your problems is just out of bounds. Get a job you love and get out of my airplane!

I hope his pilot's license is revoked permanently.

The system wasn't the reason for stopping him. C.A.S.S. is about access to the cockpit. He was in the cockpit. He likely has a mental health issue. So the question now is...was the airline aware or made aware of a known medical issue regarding his mental health?

Now our next visit on the computer is Alaska Airlines' Yelp page and start trolling.

Reducing carbon emissions is now a crime? Give him a break, he was concerned about polar ice melt.

What a short memory. Did you forget FEDEX? A disgruntled jumpseater only tried to kill the pilots and fly the aircraft into the Memphis sort centre. Two airliners, with passengers aboard, deliberately flown into the water on one and another into a mountain with all lost. Don't try to sweep this under the rug. It has happened and it will happen again.

Don't again.
Live long and don't fly.
🎶 if the plane is a rocking don't bother flying again 🎶
Pilots can't be trusted can they?
PILOTS UNION: "this is just one rare incident..."
ME: "ohhhh okay. So had he succeeded the black box would have been "unrecoverable". Only 80 lives and whoever the plane crashed into on the ground. No biggie. I feel better now. I am flying everywhere from now on" 😳

(Cue the airline industry remarks now about how their pilots prevented a catastrophe yet ignoring their pilot brothers madness)

Warning Warning Warning....
Male baldness at such a YOUNG age really destroys confidence in young men and messes with the mind. Mental evaluations always FAIL FAIL FAIL to see this connection but it is one of the MAIN distressing data points in young men with balding and airlines should never overlook this connection. IMHO. I am 63 and have hair like a wolf so this is just my observation from having friends that are bald. OLDER men are not bothered by it but other men often think of suicide especially under the age of 40.
