Retired NYPD detective: ‘Toxic police culture’ causes ‘avoidable deaths’

Tyre Nichols was beaten by five former police officers who have been charged with second-degree murder. “This kind of police interaction that leads to avoidable or unnecessary fatalities is much less about color or complexion and much more a result of … the toxicity that exists in modern-day policing,” retired NYPD detective and Director of the Black Law Enforcement Alliance Memphis Marq Claxton said.

They're no doubt needs to be some revision and change in the culture of policing. It will have very little effect if there's no change in the culture of violence that is in the black inner city communities. This has to be dealt with from both sides.

Just imagine the amount of abuse that happens behind closed doors that never make it to the news or gets a chance to be recorded.
This man got kicked and punched in the face several times by several police officers while he was hand cuffed. Now imagine that behind closed doors. Think about that for a few minutes.

The Law Enforcement has the authority to enforce laws, they should start enforcing fair laws to their own when they get out of line.

The public, they too have an obligation to bring positive change where all sides can agree.

The Lawmakers, they are obligated to serve the public's interests because they are voted to do so.
