Whew Pearl always cuts deep with the truth. I was certainly very irresponsible as a 17 yo who got pregnant. Then had a second child 10 months later. I had no husband or education. It has been a long hard road. I had so many people over the years try calling me out on my dumb choices. I did just like this lady and many others do. Deflect and push blame on everyone but myself. I got me absolutely no where! Thankfully I have finally accepted responsibility for my bad choices. That was a turning point in my life! How will anyone learn or grow unless they admit to themselves that they are and were wrong. I am 35 and know plenty of women (my age and older) who still can not see when they are wrong nor can they handle criticism. It is actually sad.

My older sister was a teen mom and we have a 12 year age gap, so when I was 7 she got pregnant at 19 and for the rest of my childhood she would sit me down and talk to me about not making dumb decisions to just sleep with anyone and end up in a situation like she did (single mom with no help from the dad) she admitted what she did was stupid and a mistake, she took accountability and was able to keep me from making the same dumb youthful mistake just by telling me the consequences of her decision. True woman to admit something like that instead of being prideful, I have much more respect for her for being honest with not just me but with herself as well.
