This reminds me of a story in the german book Struwelpeter which my grandpa read to me. There is a story about this girl who is home alone and plays with a lighter ant her dress catches on fire. Then she literally burns into a pile of ashes and the only thing left of her are her red shoes. I WAS HORRORFIED!
