There has been a LOT of confusion on this scam. Hopefully this helps clarify the issue & precautions to take! 🔐

Thank you for keeping us informed. This along with the AT&T hack should scare us all. It can happen to any of us and once it’s out there it’s too late.

This is great advice and easy to follow for me but not so easy for my elderly mother who just about knows iOS basics. Just trying to explain this to her caused her severe anxiety and now she’s worried about touching her phone when any notification arrives and is reluctant to answer any phone call.

Apple needs to fix this yesterday! It may happen to every company out there but how that company responds to the issue is what matters and I am not impressed so far.

I never answer any number that isn’t in my contacts 😂 especially when they have 800 in it

Apple honestly just needs to update their captcha software. The captcha on that page is extremely outdated. Most computer systems can read those letters now. That's the reason why modern captcha use different approaches. Selecting different pictures that contain traffic lights for example show the lag time for human input. You have to pause to search for the next picture. If Apple just used Google's recaptcha like the rest of the Internet this would be solved. I guess they just don't want Google on their site

Great advice! I never share any sensitive information with people I do not know. I also never post photos and videos on social media while I am traveling. Hopefully the software engineers will figure out the cause and fix the loophole. I do like the password change request limitation idea. That should help.

The *’Silence Unknown Callers’* option in the Settings app is godly. 😇

I think allow the notifications in Notification Center but don’t allow it to take over your device unless you specifically open it from notifications like everything else. This would allow you to delete the whole group of notifications at one time without holding your device hostage.

Thank you for your helpful videos! Last week someone from “Public Service “ called me two times in a row, I didn’t answer either one, and they didn’t leave a message- definitely suspicious and probably a scam.

Yubi key should help cause even if you fail (attacker changed your password) still it would require the key to login.

Actually a financial institution asked me for a code to verify it was me, but I called them to do an over the phone transaction. So yes, sometimes they do but not if they call you.
