As I sit and watch this I have to ask myself if the alleged killer of the Idaho 4 studied under her as a sick way to get closer to the criminal mind. Imagine him hanging in her every word sitting at the edge of his seat for any little nugget he might be able to grasp all the while plotting some deranged act and waiting for the perfect time.

As soon as you mentioned his “three layer recipe” comment I immediately knew he was saying that you are interested in murders that have three distinct characteristics such as his bind, torture. Interesting that he chose the word ‘layers’ instead of ‘ingredients’. Layers imply order as well as separation. This makes me think that the order was important to him, and so was each stage.

Just watched last 3 and a 1/2 episodes. This is the most riveting and gripping doc on serial killers I've seen so far and I've seen quite a few. Great job and awesome work Dr Ramsland. I'll be looking for some of your many books.

She talks about how we have constructed stereotypes about serial killers, but what if the more the psychologist study them the more it creates killers. I think studying them is a double edge sword, and it comes at a cost. I believe that this type of projects only gives the psychopaths a way to learn from their predecessors and it gives them a way to connect with them. I think that as the psychologist learn of them and write about them the serial killers also evolve.
