I would like to know what you charged to replace that starter. Total price for labor and starter.

Glad to see that you are still taking a hands on approach and doing repairs. A good technician like you has no trouble working on different makes of vehicles. I am enjoying the different content in addition to just Ford repairs.

Boy! Talk about timely. I just finished the same operation on my daughter's CRV about an hour ago.

It’s really cool seeing you walking like a Boss doing things in your new job. You walked like a Boss at the dealership, but now you are part of management. Really good stuff. Stay Blessed!

I never knew starters are that hard to get too. Then again I don’t know much about working on vehicles & what I do know is from watching you.

Great video. Thank you for your service. I see the 10th Mountain tat on the forearm. Great unit there. Very historical.

This video was brilliant! Thank you! I don't think I would have had the guts to fix it myself without this video, it's the most detailed one on YouTube for doing this procedure without removing the exhaust. (I too have an AWD.) One thing I found is that I absolutely needed to use 1/2 inch extensions to break the two main bolts. I started off trying 3/8 extensions but they just couldn't apply enough torque to break the bolts. I was pushing really hard on my breaker bar and was convinced that the extensions were going to crack. I had either two or three chained together, I can't remember. Once I switched to 1/2 inch extensions the connection from the breaker bar was much more solid and I was able to break the bolts immediately. I was about to head out to Harbor Freight to buy an impact wrench but ended up not needing it.

I had to do this on my 2007 Honda Civic. This one appears to be a bit easier, but at least you had the decency to tell me it would be a pain in the butt for the home gamer. Thanks!

These Honda 2.4L are excellent engines. Accord/CRV/Element.

nice now we get more variety, since it's not just ford!

Honda looks pretty clean for being that old and a Illinois car. On a side note I’m done with my snap on battery ratchets another one just crapped out, always grab my Milwaukee most of the time.

My wife's crv jas the 2.4 and everyone says you have to take off the intake to get the starter off. Nope not me I got it from the bottom and it was easy. Right on Rich you just have to look at it and think it through. 👍

Great video Rich, shows techniques and grit. Love having you acclimate into your new position. Keep safe baby, that’s Chicago after all! BTW it cost $425.00, close?

I have a alternator in a 2011 CRV, started stripping the top bolt on it and took it into the shop, they got it out but destroyed the bolt in the process. I don't know what it is on Honda's; sometimes the bolts just seem to be screwed down EXTRA hard.

When I did the starter on my civic si 2.4 I removed the intake manifold wasn’t too bad.

Just a heads up the accords of this era have a TSB out on starter issues, can’t remember if it’s strictly the 3.5 or if the 2.4 is included, but they want you to unbolt the flex plate from the torque converter and spin it one bolt hole, just something to keep in your memory bank 👍🏻
