Yellow is actually a normal lightsaber color used mostly by jedi masters and temple gaurds who seek to learn and protect the force. I find it weird that recently disney has just been slapping them on random charecters now.

I think Rise of Skywalker should have used this. Rey should have abandoned the Jedi and the Sith and gone forward in the force, and the yellow represents that. I also think instead of taking Skywalker as her name, she should have chosen to be just Rey. Not Solo, not Palpatine, or anything else. She's choosing her own path.

Yellow Lightsabers were more common among Jedi during the High Republic era. I think that this one Ventress acquired is likely centuries old by that point.
