"Is Saudi Arabia right for me..?"

I've already done a video all around why you should seriously consider the move. Now I want to give you some reasons why moving to Saudi as an expat may not be the right move for you... 100% transparent.

I hope now you can dig deep into why you're looking to make the move and whether it is right for you.

I'd love to get your thoughts and I'm always here if you'd like to reach out - I'm @pete_kami_ on Instagram.

Good luck!

I have lived in Saudi Arabia and after 6 months there, I felt like going back to the USA to get everything I own and moving it to Saudi and never leaving again. I absolutely love Saudi Arabia.

I'm the same age as you and I feel ya. I'm tempted to come and teach English here. The cleanse would be unreal. A sober lifestyle for a year would have so many health benefits

I’m a very calm happy Mexican Muslim. I don’t think I will have a problem living in Saudi Arabia tbh. Maybe in a couple years I’ll move out there, we’ll see InshAllah.

In fact, you have mentioned all the negative points that anyone thinking of coming to Saudi Arabia, especially Riyadh, could benefit from. You have presented them logically and without bias. Thank you; you have provided a lot. I hope your video becomes more and more widespread.

Thank you for this perspective! Number 5 is important - many times we don’t see the lesson learned until we make a leap without a Plan B or without thinking through the experience. Thank you for sharing!

Habibi that awesome to have someone like you from another country talking about Saudi Arabia and explaining it to others. I'm really glad to see that!

Thanks for the Video. How about for single females in their mid-age, is it recommended? Are there other Expat singles or mainly families/couples moving to Saudi?

I am a driver in Saudi Arabia for a period of 2years 9month now, and the company that brought me here has made my life horrible, but one thing I can say, is that Saudi is the best country to live and work in for the focused minded individuals. My contract is ending in a year time but if by any chance I can get a company that will employ me directly, I will be so glad to come back to Saudi to work and live here.
I love Saudi Arabia for their culture, and the rules.💓

I grew up in the Med and have lived around the world, but the life and culture of the middle east is so calm and enjoyable. I think if you're a humble person, and are a nice person you can fit in the middle east really well. This is a great video.

This was so beautifully done. I’m an American RN on my way over. Your video just confirmed for me that this is the right move me! It even gave me ideas of what to emphasize in my upcoming interview. Thanks so much!

Thank you for taking the time to make this video,

I lived in China for 11 years and the reasons not to move. There are quite similar to the ones you’ve listed here.

The kingdom of Saudi Arabia is now on my radar and based on your five reasons here I still think it might be a good fit for me.

Good, balanced video. Especially the part about nor "fighting" the culture or the way things are done. Things can often be frustrating and illogical (especially in a work situation) but I've learned a long time ago that the Saudis do what they do, how they like to do it, and that's it. You can make suggestions or leave, but fighting it only harms yourself.

Hey Pete, what kind of work is available aside from teaching English? Is there a sector for senior tech professionals from the USA or the UK?

All really good reasons tbh, my husband and I were in Riyadh for 4-5 years, we were both teaching. When you’re working, time passes quickly but when you’re not, I mean when I was on maternity leave after having the baby.. time wouldn’t pass! It was so boring, I’m talking about 2011-2012, things were still pretty strict then in Riyadh.. women had to be accompanied and it wasn’t so safe to go out alone, that’s when I just wanted to run away from there! The boredom! And now it’s become quite expensive in Saudi.. and there’s the tax, when we were out there, we made good money but then they cut the pay by 70% 😮because of the Saudi-isation (getting Saudi’s in the jobs)… that’s when we left the place and came back to the good old Blighty!
