IEP and 504 Plans Compared

Kids are back in school and the one of the questions parents often ask us is the difference between Individual Education Plans, or IEPs, and 504 plans for their children in the public schools.

Whether it’s a 504 or an IEP Plan, parents absolutely have a right to know exactly what plan their child is on and to review all documentation related to the plan and to discuss the plan with teachers and school administrators. Both should be updated annually to ensure that the student is receiving the most effective accommodations for his or her specific circumstances.
