🎵 My R&B Neo-Soul Acoustic Guitar course on Skillshare
In this lesson we take a look at the Backdoor Progression. We’ll do it in C major, understanding chord positions, music theory with chord number analysis and two alternative voicings involving 9/13 chords and voice leading 7 #11 chords. Towards the end, we’ll learn how to make this backdoor progression sound r&b neo soul. We’ll touch on subjects such as modal interchange, parallel keys, deceptive cadences and more. But as always, the chord diagrams and the music theory graphics on screen will help following along. Tabs, music notation and theory charts with additional notes are available on my Patreon.
