Pope faces 'complex clinical picture'

Pope Francis' respiratory tract infection is presenting a "complex clinical picture" and will need to be treated through an "appropriate hospital stay," the Vatican has said.

Spokesman Matteo Bruni said the results of tests conducted in recent days indicate the 88-year-old pontiff is suffering from a "polymicrobial respiratory tract infection".

Scientists say polymicrobial infections are caused by a mix of viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites.

Why not appoint a young Pope? Someone in their early twenties would be ideal. They would not need constant replacing if they gave a young guy the opportunity to be a Pope. I’m sure there are guys out there who would love to fill the role. And it would give the church a broader appeal and youngsters will start being interesting in Christianity instead of another promininant Abrahmic religion. There is a reason why Christianity is in decline.
