A big welcome into my life! I am a Dan a Welsh vlogger from the UK who has Aspergers Syndrome. Aspergers Syndrome or ASD is a form of Autism, often referred to as High Functioning Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder. I video every day of my life and upload videos for you to come along with me.

I also have help videos for helping people get a diagnosis of Autism or Aspergers Syndrome, and also some advise and help for anyone who is friends, partners or loved ones who suffer from Autism or Aspegers Syndrome and just about anyone on the Autism Spectrum.

*********************************
Short history on me

I was diagnosed with ASD (Asperger’s Syndrome) when I was 26 years old, after experiencing life with Autism that was unknown to me for 26 years.

Now I enjoy all things in life with my dog Randell and my girlfriend Naomi, we try and help and educate anyone and everyone on Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome however and wherever we can.

My funny story has nothing to do with symptoms of Autism or Asperger Syndrome directly but in my early childhood I was so uncomfortable with talking somehow the school thought it would be a good idea for a two week straight session in the blind class before going back to my regular class. I only started talking because of a house church thing that started about the same time where our minister tried to find out things that interested me and worked with the information to get me to really start talking. I still am in communications with that minister today.

Sometimes my mind is not able to process what someone says, and then right after i ask them "what?" my mind suddenly speeds up and processes what they just said. i tend to annoy people with this, but i can't help it.

Just found your channel. My grandson has Aspergers/Autism....he is four. Love the way you approach it! He watches Dan DTM nonstop, and you remind me of him....I'm going to post your videos on FB everyday for people to better understand and relate. Thanks!

Oh man these are so true! I've really enjoyed this video and the stories other commenters have shared too. I can totally relate. I was finally diagnosed this year-at the age of 37...not because my condition is in any way mild but because I completely fell through the cracks (figuratively speaking). I have gone my entire life thinking there is something really wrong or defective about me up until I learned that I am an aspie. I am so happy to know I'm not alone in my experiences! I feel validated. Thanks for making videos.

+The Aspie World sometimes I tend to zone out and I'll start stareing at at random things or if something Shiny happens to catch MY eye I'll focus on that. But with Water if the Sunlight is Reflecting on THE water's surface I'll actually look down and I'll be Staring at the Sunlight shining in the water. And I'll like Zone out just watching it . LOL it's kinda funny. When I interact with the water, it's fun and I love swimming. I've wondered why Autistic People are. Attracted to water ?

I haven't been diagnosed but I'm going to seek diagnosis because I relate to almost everything Aspie. Here's some random things I do.
1. I definitely have NO filter, I'm brutally honest all the time. Unless you want an honest opinion, don't ask me.
2. Playing netball tonight my girls pointed out to me that when I've done something I'm proud of, I'll stop still and have a moment, completely vague out of the game for a while and miss the ball. Happens every time I do something cool haha. I played well tonight so lots of vague outs lol.
3. I'm jumpy as. Everything startles me.
4. If I'm really deep in thought I'll act out the body language that goes with the dialogue I'm imagining, facial expressions, hand signals.. its really hard to control I'm worried I do it in public.
5. I stare at people without realizing it.. that one gets me in trouble.

Last night my boyfriend heard a strange noise so he yelled "There is an intruder coming into the house!". so my boyfriend jumps out of bed, i hear him running around down stairs then complete silence !! So i am sitting in bed trying not to breath and it has been 10 minutes. I get out of bed, and see my boyfriend sitting down stairs on his phone !! For last ten minutes he has been researching guitar tubes (for the speakers), guitars in general and speakers. I yelled at my boyfriend and teld him to get upstairs, he apologies and said he forgot why he was down stairs and he told me that he couldn't sleep because he was thinking about guitars !! LOL. love my boyfriend and his beautiful mind with Aspergers but i would like more sleep haha.

Okay then an Aspie story or trait I have or had...let me think. So when I was in early elementary school I liked playing by myself and on top of that I played with my hands. I would flap them, make hand signals, fidget and talk to myself. I would also repeat lines I heard from movies or tv shows out loud. So one day my mother she went to my brother and said "I need jon to learn eye hand coordination and to learn to not play with his hands and fidget in public, teach him how to play video games". Yup my mother made me play video games (every child's dream). I still sometimes make hand gestures and fidget but I've controlled it to where I do it in the comfort of my home and not in public.

I don't get gossip talk. half the time it's 'I was like this, right, and do you know what he said to me, he goes like this, I'm like what the f***, you know what I mean, it's just like I was talking to her and looks over there and...'

Like Dan says: gibberish. It annoys me that people seem to talk in a weird code and talk for ages without actually saying anything.

When I am in middle of a thought, someone starts talking to me and I suddenly am like "What?" As I only caught the last half of what they said.

i relate to much to the not knowing what people are saying. once on the school bus someone asked me what i was doing that weekend and i had to get them to repeat the question 7 times because i just couldn't understand what they were saying. i wish that life had subtitles.

thanks for this really great channel :)

I'm getting tested to see if I am on the autism spectrum when the school year starts again in August, and I was really anxious and upset about it when I found out. But this channel has really helped me feel more comfortable with the thought because you are a really interesting person and I like being able to relate to someone (something I have a hard time with). Thank you for this channel and everything you do for us. (: Also, I have a question. Why is it not common to look at someone's lips or nose when they're speaking? To me it's very violating and I feel uncomfortable.

mine are very similarto yours tbh,
I defo don't have a filter... espeialy if its somthing i dont agree with..i have quite black and white morels...
I ramble a lot about my intrestes and i can see my mums eyes glasing over majority of the time (i live with my mum)
if i get obsobed in a game i can spend litterly a hole 24 hours playing none stop and id think ive just been playing like 2 or three hours
The litterly thing is very ture too.... i thought till i was like 10 that when my nanna would say "its raining cats and dogs outside" that animals were litterly falling out of the sky...same with if i was going to the toilet she would also say "have one for me too" and it confused me a lot growing up.
i also kinda freak out if stuff is in a speific spot i like to sit in, or someone uses "my" cutlery, mug and plates/bowls.... all kinda seems pety but has a big effect on me xD... sorry for my bad spelling btw, dyslexia is not the most fun of things

Hahah this made me giggle! It's great you can look at it in a lighthearted way. I share a few of the same characteristics as you do, and I can also be terrible with social cues. I've gotten a lot better with that over the past year or so, since I've been made aware of the things I do that aren't socially acceptable, and I think I'm a lot more conscious of how I act in social situations now.

i have a story about when i was little (like 7-11) that shows my literal thinking and how it impacts my daily life (it's also quite funny) So when I was little my dad used to say the phrase "I'm going to see a man about a dog" which basically means I'm going somewhere to do something. My family understood this phrase was just a metophor but I didn't so every time my dad said he was going to see a man about a dog I would become extremely excited about it and start asking questions like "what breed" and "where". My family found this so funny that that they went along with my interpetation of the phrase for 4 years.

One of my favorite vlogs and so funny! Love your stories. Yes, all of those are so true. How about fixation on certain topics or things for a while, researching it, learning it, talking about it almost nonstop. Right now my son is on an Australia kick. He knows more about Australia than anyone. It's great!

Hi! I’m fairly new to your Chanel, my 5 year old son has just been diagnosed with Aspergers and your videos are really helping me understand him and his condition. Everything you have explained in this video alone is 100% my son. So thank you!
