The third generation Ford GT was first introduced in 2017 with a theoretical top speed of 216 mph. Ford first reveled this new generation of the GT at the North American International Auto Show in 2015. It was then mocked up into a race car by 2016 and went on to win back to back 24 hours of Rolex titles. In this video you will see the 2017 Ford GT make a test pass in the standing mile. The previous Ford GT (2005-2006) came with a beefed up Ford F-150 V8 coupled with an SVT supercharger that made impressive horsepower and torque numbers. The new Ford GT followed in similar fashion using a beefed up F-150 twin turbo V6 this time. We have put the specs for this motor below. After performing multiple test on this vehicle we can safely say Ford did an amazing job designing and engineering the new generation Ford GT!

And just to think, 600+ hp and 500+ tq and still got 213mph. Cars with more power can't reach that. Aerodynamics is a mf on this beauty!

What a masterpiece going faster with a TwinTurbo V6 then several others with TwinTurbo V8s.
Lots of shit talking going on about this car having a V-6 but no one says anything about GTR’s having V-6s either. Drag times raced two different ZR1s in the half mile with his stock GT and beat both of them with 100 horse power less than the ZR1...💥

I see comments made on this mark 2 ford gt about how it is overpriced and that cars in its class outperform it on both the track and in straight line acceleration runs. Firstly, this car has not been tracked by professional racecar drivers seeking track records. Racecar driver Billy Johnson did one lap at Virginia International Reaceway, just 1 lap, and accidentally set a new track record. The cars potential has not been pushed, and that is a travesty.

Secondly, this car has a final drive axle ratio of 3.66, that's why it has a top speed, with enough room of 216 mph at 3363 pounds, that's with fluids, with 660hp, whereas a 488 Pista only hits 211mph with around 740hp at about the same curb weight, but accelerates faster. It has a final axle drive ratio of 5.14, slower top end, quicker acceleration.

This car is geared for top speed and decent acceleration, but not to run low 10s, but with a 5.14 final drive axle ratio it would accelerate much faster. Also the Ford GT is a collectable, paying contemporary homage to the Ford GTs of the past and providing consumers to enjoy a track focused leman racecar modified for street use. It could be made into a hyper-car, but then it would lose its intended focus.

Speaking of hypercars, neither the 488 Pista, GTB, Superfast, Huracan Evo, 23' Z06 Z07, can hit 216, and the 720s hits 216, but it has about 130 additional horsepower and weighs 200lbs less. The Ford GT is awesome!

With more room, this GT might be able to do 216mph, but not the other blue car.

Just think of how fast the next series will be...

That being said for those of you who seem disappointed, keep in mind top speed isn't as important as maneuverability for this car. It's a GTELM car; there's a reason it can get around Circuit De la Sarth in the time it does.
