I taught for 40 years. I learned early on that forming a question or directions so as to get the response you want is blazingly difficult. While grading papers, you must be ready to judge every answer on its own merits, accepting answers which are true but far from what you expected. Creative thinking is to be encouraged.

It's far than obvious that children are born naturally smart. It takes an entire educational system to mess with them and turn them obedient believers/consumers like the rest of us.
PS. Some questions are so unrealistic they almost demand the answer (like the one with the candy bars...)!

It really irritates me when teachers mark a kid down for giving a logically valid answer to questions that were just badly designed. How did giraffes' necks get so long? They just didn't - giraffes' necks have always been long; their short-necked ancestors weren't giraffes.

In the test "Circle the smallest number, " the teacher is wrong. You can't have the SMALLEST of two things; it should be "Circle the SMALLER number."

"About how old is your grandfather?"

Why is 500 a choice?

Our class studied the play Romeo and Juliet. The test asked "How did this play affect you?" I wrote "It didn't affect me at all." The teacher gave me no marks and refused to accept that he phrased the question poorly.

2:47 I found a few things on google that ended in 1869!
The Anglo-Zanzibar War: The shortest recorded war in history, lasting 38–45 minutes on August 27, 1896
The execution of H.H. Holmes: One of America's first well-known serial killers, Holmes was hanged in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1896
The first modern Olympic games: The first modern Olympic games were held in Athens, Greece in April 1896

12:55 Gee, I wonder what the answers could be on the next page?
14:35 It's got me in a state of confusion.

When I was a kid I had tests/homework.

I got low scores, mostly because I did not show ‘how’ I arrived at/worked out the answers.

I just read the question. 3 x 7 is 21. I did not need to work it out on paper with a pencil, I remembered the answer. 2 x 7 is 14. 3 x 7 is 28. Etc .

The teacher made it important to learn the times tables, and then marked you down when you had learned them and did not tediously show why 5x7 was 35.

It’s was a bit like asking me, at 9, to show WHY my name was ‘my name.’ Want a copy of my birth-certificate? I can “REMEMBER MY NAME.” I do not need to work it out..

1:13 Stupidest thing is, I'd have to give credit for that. Because that smartass of an answer is a very real risk on a test!

I wrote a final History exam in Grade 11. The exam was made up of 10 or 11 questions essay questions. Each of the questions followed each other chronologically. The first question I totally bullsh***d and my answer had absolutely nothing to do with the question. Second question, same thing. Same pattern down to the 10th question. The Eleventh question I answered as follows, "in order to be able to answer this question I would have to know the answers to the previous 10 questions which obviously I don't. IN other words, I don't know" I got an 86 for this exam. Crazy huh?

It's not about the correct answer it's about suppression and giving the one someone else wants.

These are really funny but you go so fast we can't read the answers. Please allow more time on the long ones. Thanks 😊

This is a speed reading test, the more there is to read the shorter time is allowed.
