Why They Decided To Cancel Stranger Things Day This Year 😢

Don't ask me why because it seems like there's no answer besides one thing everyone is dealing with right now. We are about 12 months away from Season 5 coming out so while we were hoping to get our first Stranger Things trailer, we might not see it for a while. They didn’t cancel stranger things day… they literally showed the titles of all the episodes and showed bts of S5 just cause they didn’t show you a full trailer for a show that won’t be out for like over a year doesn’t mean it was cancelled

As a Halloween Horror Nights fanatic and someone who used to work in theme parks, my guess is that Universal simply didn’t renew the contract with Netflix for Stranger Things this year 🤷🏼‍♀️ They’d already gone through the four seasons that are out and HHN doesn’t do the same house twice. Plus ever since Universal got stuck doing The Walking Dead SEVEN years in a row (and the fans did nothing but moan and complain about it), they REALLY just don’t like doing the same IP that many years in a row

That’s it. Nothing too deep. Universal probably didn’t renew the IP, so Netflix probably licensed the rights with the next highest bidder

Stranger Things Day is iconic and ties in with the story itself. It's really odd to change that right at the last one.

The only thing I can think is maybe they’ll do the usual big promos or teasers on Will’s birthday next March, because that’ll be closer to six months before the season’s likely to release, it’ll be a fun wink to when the duffers forgot his birthday, and it would work because of how the next season is going to be so Will-focused.
