Part of me wonders if this is some sort of weird marketing ploy… they cancel the theatrical release but “because the dans demanded to see it, we’ll concede to releasing it on streaming”

Maybe the cancellation is a part of marketing. They do not really want to cancel it. They hope that fans start petitions not to cancel it. That is a free worldwide marketing. I for example did not hear about the movie before it was cancelled. In a few weeks they can say that they have listened to fans and decided to revert their decision. Then the free marketing is done. That is worth tens of millions.

This is just stupid. There is no financial reason to do this. The only reason to do this is when your movie is so bad, that the damage to your brand and thus future revenues is worse than the financial loss from production. When you know they had no problem releasing batman vs superman, this one had to be a real special kind of garbage.

Yeah but The Flash with Ezra Miller and Aquaman with Amber Heard are still slated to come out. Ezra Miller has turned Hawaii into his own Grand Theft Auto video game. WB has been silent about his antics.

Here is what nobody is understanding, Michael Keaton is in the FUCKING MOVIE as Batman. IN THE DCEU! Flash isn't supposed to come out until 2023 so having this movie release before Flash doesn't make any fucking sense, nor would it make sense in the Batgirl movie why Keaton is there until after we see The Flash. You people want Warner bros discovery to fix up the DCEU, THIS IS HOW THEY'RE FUCKING DOING IT!

They should have completed and released the (ill-conceived) flick already before revamping the mess that is the DCEU.

Canceling a movie in POST-production is WAY different than canceling one in PRE-production.

For example, Disney canceling 'TRON 3' is sad and disappointing while canceling 'Batgirl' is mean and insulting.

It was a tough business decision Wbd made yesterday. If you think about it rushing marketing can balloon out of proportion financially if the film doesn't make a quarterly of it budget back at the box office. Reports say it cost around 75 to 90 million to produce. Which the film would have to make about 180 too 200 million in the domestic box office.
