My first experience at a car hire firm in America was asking for a car that wasn't automatic and getting looked at like I was an alien with tentacles. They didn't have one. I thought about it a second and headed for the door. The car hire lady called out nobody will have a stick shift car. I called back, that's why I'm going to look for a motorbike.
