The scariest thing a show can do is to convince you that it could happen in reality

John Hanna is in the show for less than 200 seconds and delivers one of the best performances in the whole show thus far.

This opening scene made the first episode a 10/10 I didn’t expect to see this at all.

I fkn love his delivery on "we lose", its makes me feel like he knows its coming and there's nothing anyone can do because we all neglect it and he's come to terms with that.

Key signs that this scene is not set in the current day:
- smoking on TV
- weird curvy tables
- people actually listening to epidemiologists.

The interviewer and audience's change in demeanor after he says, "were to become slightly warmer?" is just perfection.

“What if the world were to get slightly warmer?” Is the first close-up of the sequence, because that’s the moment we realize just how realistically horrifying this show is about to be.

The scientist in the middle is not getting enough credit. The body language was incredible. He was listening and you can see the validation of some statements, annoyance of others, questioning with most of it like, "Where is he going with this?" Amazing acting from everyone in the end even the crowd.

When the host asked "And if that were to happen", it seems like it was a genuine question. Not a question for the show, but a question coming from actual fear towards the scenario that the epidemiologist is describing.

I feel like this is what separates this show from all other "zombie" stories. In shows like "The Walking Dead" they had no idea what was happening so there was still hope for a cure. This show kills all prospects of hope in the first 5 minutes

The best new addition to the lore. I really liked this scene.

The bit when he says "what if the climate were to get slightly warmer?" is when this becomes more terrifying as a concept, given the current state of the climate

As a biochemist, what he’s saying is scientifically sound and very true so this has logical flow. Good story writing. It passes the reality check.

Hot take, the best part of this scene is the audience. Watching them go from “look at this idiot” to “that’s weird” to “oh fuck” is fascinating

The simple delivery of "what if the world were to get slightly warmer" sent the biggest chills through me. incredible filmmaking

This scene kicked off the show to a great start. Once I heard that 'we lose', I knew that I was in for something incredible

2:47 “Billions of puppets with poisoned minds, permanently fixed on one unifying goal” is it just me or when he says this is the audience kind of there to provide a glimpse of it. They don’t look scared, none chatting with eachother, none covering their mouths or in shock, or laughing at him, they’ve all got dead straight faces looking almost blank and staring unblinkingly in the same direction. Idk, it was something that caught me when I first watched it, idk if I’m seeing things

this prologue is a masterpiece by itself. John Hannah is brilliant here.
