Concussion recovery can be a difficult process, and post concussion headaches are a real and often debilitating part of the process.Today, Human 2.0 physiotherapist Shira Schwartz will discuss why people get headaches (post concussion or not), and what you can do to help prevent them or alleviate them once they occur.

People suffering from a concussion may experience things like neck, shoulder, and back pain and they might have tight muscles in those areas. Thus, self massage for headaches is one good strategy to help relieve this common post concussion symptom. Because concussions (depending on their severity), and concussion recovery can take a long time, it's a good idea to have some ways to help yourself. You may not be able to see a doctor or rehab specialist as often as the symptoms occur.

A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury - or TBI - caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. A concussion is “an invisible injury “ that is not easily seen or felt by other people. You have no “cast or brace” to show a physical injury is present, yet it can affect your life immensely. And having post concussion headaches is a common part of the process.

Brilliant. The back of my head fell on the slippery rocks when I was playing on the beach in sunny Melbourne, Australia. for the last 2 years, I suffered daily neck, head and eye pain. I did all sorts of massage, but using a tennis ball is revolutionary. Thank you for sharing this video. When I use the tennis ball to massage my 'hit area' on my head, it felt really good. Thank you.
