Moral of the story, don't be "the average trucker."

you can say what he said about alot of careers . I'm 60, on no prescriptions, been a Local commercial driver for 35 years and own two homes with 4 kids with college educations. Their are exceptions.

My dad retired at 64 after trucking for 40 years and acts and looks 45 I would be glad to show anyone his health, money, and happiness. You have to take care of yourself though but we never wanted for a thing. He was left in the streets at 15yrs old bc there were too many other kids to feed and he was old enough to apparently "take care of himself". He built a life from nothing and then went back and helped his family too. He owns 4 homes with land one being a lake house. He never lays around though he is ALWAYS moving work or play. He has a drive like no other. You can do it but you have to be willing to put in the work.

Currently in my last week of trucking school and i plan to do it for at least a year or two and build up my business to replace my trucking income. I walk 5-10 miles a day and doing push ups and sit-ups regularly. I’m very careful with what I eat.

I think it’s all about having a plan for the future and healthy daily routine.

he speaks the truth! i would tell anyone going into trucking to have ur exit plan before u start training! im 45 . been driving 19 yrs. raised my kids in truck . we lived a regular middle class lifestyle. i gained about 100 lbs out here over that time and im fighting to hold on to my health. i lost 115 via weight loss surgery LIKE SO MANY DRIVERS !! but get this my surgery put me i. a state of life threatening anemia because i can’t absorb enough iron. my lower back, right hip and right knee makes it a project to get outta bed in the mornings. young ppl please listen to THE TRUTH!!! u ain’t gon make no killer money and u will destroy ur body and many relationships because ur always gone! it’s worth it as a building block but DO NOT GET TRAPPED LIKE MOST OF US!! LISTEN!

Go local if you have a port near you start hauling cans home every night off weekends and holidays you’ll have plenty of of time to tend to your health. I did otr for a few months and I got the hell out and got my twic and started running cans to the ports

I keep a 30lb kettle bell on my truck, kettlebells are all about full body mobility and you can feel the difference working with those over static dumbbells. Can only do as much as you can in the small space we live in but it's certainly better than nothing and keeps me loose.
