Back when the public in the world were freaking out about the idea of mechanical advancements, oncoming threats, and potential alternate worlds. It just seemed more fresh and had this cool sci fi atmosphere. Its spun out into a lot of different genres now which is awesome, but these early days will always be some of the greatest

I think my favorite part of iron man's suits in these movies is how mechanical everything is. Every step has weight, movements are accompanied by that nice whirring, and the overall aesthetic keeps you constantly aware that this is a hero's machine. The nanotech stuff lacks all of that...
