It’s very convenient to have a walk thru BEFORE the closing. There are many builders that schedule the closing the same day as the walk thru. Blue taping is fine, as long as the builder fixes the issues before closing. Unfortunately, some unethical builders don’t come back to fix the issues if you close beforehand.

Was questioning whether the amount of blue tape was way unreasonable. Since your comment regarding the shower though, I now know that it IS. Nowhere in the national standards is a weep hole required for bottoms of walls in showers. And sealing grout is extra and NOT part of a standard tile installation.

Inspections need to start when the foundation is being dug and continue during all the phases of construction.

After completion Inspections don't reveal all the defects in framing, plumbing, wiring, HVAC etc.
