A little Rye Road Trip through historic England - Part 2

Показать описание
The second half of our road trip from Rye in East Sussex.
The purpose of the video is to inspire those who can to visit some of our favourite places in this part of our world, all from the beautiful town of Rye.
Continuing our journey from where we left off in part one, we find ourselves at Bodiam Castle, a sight to behold before we hit the road once more.
Our adventure continues as traverse 5 miles of picturesque countryside to reach Robertsbridge, this quaint village, once a stop on the London to Hastings or Rye roads, now bypassed by the A21, is steeped in history and boasts another mainline station for those who prefer to cycle this route.
The next destination is Bateman's, Rudyard Kipling's former home. It is just 6 miles away, and we pass through the picturesque village of Burwash. A quick look around the home and the gardens of the author who gave us 'The Jungle Book' and 'If'.
We return to Burwash, which is just a mile from Bateman's, to have a look around the pretty village, that when you dive into its history, it gets a little darker.
Our drive continues into the country of Kent and the village, or is that the two villages, of Hawkhurst. We first explore 'The Moor' area, while regaling the tales of the Hawkhurst gang of smugglers.
We hop in the car for the two-mile drive to the Highgate area of Hawkhurst and have an all too brief look around the busy little village.
We jump in the car for the final leg to Rye, a journey of around 14 miles, arriving at dusk. A slow drive through the town, before a quick look around as the sun goes down before retiring to the Mermaid Inn.
